The History Museum of Valais is situated within the prestigious site of the Valère Castle. It provides an insight into some 50,000 years of history. Don’t miss out on the Basilica’s Tresure, which illustrates almost 1,000 years of prayer on the site, as well as the world’s oldest playable organ.

The Art Museum of Valais proposes a tour focused on landscape history, the School of Savièse and contemporary art. Situated at the foot of the Valère and Tourbillon hills, the two medieval castles serve as its backdrop.

Through its original design, the Nature Museum of Valais questions the relationship between human beings and their environment. The tour among stuffed animals and replicated ecosystems can feel like a real safari!

This former prison is now fitted out as an exhibition centre, ‘Le Pénitencier’ hosts temporary exhibitions from the Art Museum, History Museum and the Museum of Nature of Valais. It is also home to the Neolithic head stone of the Little Hunter, a real gem of prehistoric Alpine art.

The House of Nature is nestled at the foot of the Montorge Hill, on the shores of the lake carrying the same name. It hosts a permanent display of the natural and historical wealth of the site, as well as a « nature exhibition » which is renewed every year.

“Ferme-Asile” is a multidisciplinary art centre, offering a season of quality concerts reflecting all current trends of jazz, pop, rock, blues or music from around the world in the intimate atmosphere of its small concert hall.

Le Port Franc is a cultural complex in Sion, ded¬icated to contemporary music. It offers an artistic season between September and June, with concerts of renowned as well as emerging artists.

The Sion Jazz Association organises Dixieland and New Orleans jazz concerts in the Maison du Diable’s (‘Devil’s House’) very pleasant garden.

Electrozîles is an open-air electronic music festival that takes place at the Domaine des Iles every year in June.

‘Le Point 11’ is a small concert hall situated in a former wine cellar in the heart of the old town centre of Sion. It features mainly artists from Valais. Music events generally take place every Friday.

The Guinness Irish Festival is a Celtic music festival held at the Domaine des Iles in August. Combining renowned artists and rising stars, the Guinness Irish Festival is an unmissable event for Celtic music fans.

The PALP is a dynamic and multidisciplinary festival which takes place in various regions of Valais. In Sion and Sierre it offers artistic, musical, and gastronomic events. The "Schlösser" and "Carnötzet” concerts and shows are free to access (food not included).

Situated in the heart of the old town centre, the Grenette - Gallery in the City of Sion is a multidisciplinary place of discovery. Through 4 annual exhibitions, it aims to promote a greater knowledge of the capital of Valais.

The Devil's House, a cultural part of the Fellini Foundation, presents exhibitions in connection with cinema trends and visual culture. It also offers a rich programme of cultural mediation.

La Ferme-Asile est un centre artistique pluridisciplinaire spécialisé dans l’art contemporain. Elle propose de grandes expositions, des installations in situ créées spécifiquement pour l’espace monumental de sa grange It proposes large exhibitions, shows and in-situ installations created specifically for the barn’s monumental space, as well as an extensive programme of cultural mediation for the general public and families.

The Grande Fontaine Gallery features nine to ten solo or group exhibitions per year, presenting the works of confirmed as well as young talented visual artists of high local and international reputation.

The gallery provides a space dedicated to contemporary works on paper and regularly hosts furniture makers and designers. The interaction of forms and inspirations enables each time to create a special universe.

The programming of Teatro Comico is dedicated throughout the year to artists originating from Valais.

The Alizé Theatre is the working place of a company carrying the same name. Their cultural season includes a mixture of humour, theatre and music.

The “FAR”, Festival d’Art de Rue de Sion (“Sion’s Street Art Festival”) has been offering free performances by street artists since 1999, with special sets and atmospheres that you can stroll through in old town of Sion. The festival will take place in June 2022.

Le Spot is a brewer of culture, a creator of links, a place where regional artists and those from elsewhere meet the local public. Le Spot is the result of the "Théâtre de Valère" and “Sion's Petithéâtre" merging and offers an eclectic and contemporary programme that gives pride of place to theatre, dance and the circus.

The Sion Festival is considered one of the most important classical music events in Valais and in Switzerland. It is designed to maintain the artistic - especially violin - tradition that has now been in existence for more than a half century. The Sion Festival will take place from 16th August to 3rd September 2017.

The International Ancient Organ and Early Music Festival of Valère provides the public with the possibility to listen to the world’s most ancient organ which is still in working order. The concerts are held every Saturday in summer at 4pm in Basilica of Valère.

Every summer, the Tibor Varga Music Academy attracts almost 250 students from all over the world to Sion. With its 40 concerts, it provides a meeting place for the public, novice musicians, students and internationally renowned teachers. It takes place between July and August.

This internationally recognised competition is intended for today’s top violinists aged between 14 and 17. Only 12 candidates are chosen around the world to provide a high-quality program with a chamber orchestra. This competition takes place in Sion every 2 years, from the end of August to the beginning of September.

The Sacred Art Festival is organised during the Christmas period by the Sacred Music and Sion Cathedral Choir Foundation. This festival provides a special place for Nativity season music and it gives prominence to many quality music groups of the region.

The Flatus Festival is a festival of musical rarities, presenting open-air concerts, exhibitions and popular manifestations of little-known musical works from different eras. It takes place every year in May and June

The Rich Hours of Valère are committed to exploring the artistic role of Early and Baroque music. There are concerts organised in the magical setting of Basilica of Valère and the old town centre of Sion.

Schubertiade Sion organises 11-12 chamber music concerts throughout the year in the charming old town centre of Sion. The concerts are held on Fridays at 7pm at the Wolff Foundation.

This internationally recognised competition is intended for today’s top violinists under 26 years of age. Only 28 candidates are chosen around the world to provide a high-quality program. This competition takes place in Sion every 2 years, from the end of August to the beginning of September.

In order to learn more about various cultures and origins of the population of Sion, there is a series of three films, chosen by foreign communities, made available free of charge to the public. Each screening is followed by an exchange and aperitif by the represented country.

Page & Image is an independent winter cinema club. Open to all, it offers travel pictures from November to April on the big screens of Sion’s cinemas. The sessions take place one Tuesday a month at 6:30pm.

‘Perspectives is a film club in Sion which projects documentary films once a month from October to April. The projections are followed by a moment of exchange in the company of a guest especially chosen for his/her connection with the film. The topics covered are related to current events or social issues to in order to reflect on the world around us.

La Petite Lanterne, petite sœur de la Lanterne Magique est une invitation à découvrir le cinéma avec ses parents ou grands-parents pour les enfants de 4 à 6 ans. La Petite Lanterne c'est trois séances par saison. Une programmation de films adaptés aux plus petits qui permet d'apprivoiser en famille la magie du cinéma en toute confiance.
